Opioid Use Disorder Mobile Response Team
About
In 2019, The Lutheran Foundation was awarded funding from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Division of Mental Health and Addiction to expand access to certified peer recovery coaches, treatment and wraparound services for addressing the opioid use crisis in Indiana. The objective of the program is to provide individuals with opioid use disorder, substance use disorder, or with actualized risk for opioid overdose due to a recent non-fatal overdose, use of intravenous illicit drugs, or other practices that place them at risk of substance-related overdose with 24/7 access to integrated peer recovery coaches.
This grant has enabled more adults to practice harm reduction and engage with treatment and wraparound services through a relationship with a peer recovery coach after a non-fatal overdose/poisoning. Parkview peer recovery coaches work with Fort Wayne police officers to locate people within 72 hours of non-fatal overdose to attempt to connect them with treatment and other resources.
